With over 100 years of law enforcement experience between them, the team at Vigilant Watch has received thousands of requests by citizens for suggestions on how they can help their neighborhood. With that in mind, we started examining the needs of the community and the history of crime. What we realized is that in most cases, it was only after someone had been a victim of a crime that they felt the need to react to it.  We then focused on the idea of crime prevention and community motivation. We took the old idea of neighborhood watch programs and decided that it was time to reinvent what had become obsolete. We thought, what if we could lead the community by not only organizing a neighborhood watch for them but also train them in crime prevention techniques and basic self defense courses? What if criminals became intimidated by everyday citizens working to protect their neighborhoods? This idea sparked a thought process based on organization of the community and proper training. We established our mission; it was time to help the community prevent crime, not react to it.
